About

My Practice
Erin Prater is an accredited Generalist and Grief and Loss Counsellor, registered with the Australian Counselling Association and an Independent NDIS Psychosocial Support Worker.

Erin's Counselling approach is warm, person centred, non-judgemental, trauma informed and has a natural narrative style to her exploration of concerns.

Erin brings lived experience of mental health and the trauma recovery journey to her practice, deepening her offering to clients as a peer supporter.

As an Accredited Mental Health First Aider Erin can provide a safe environment for clients living with or experiencing mental health concerns.

Erin believes each client is their own expert and understands that her role is to walk alongside them as they explore their concerns, offering them helpful reflections, passing on new skills, supporting their decision making process and action planning, and holding their emotions safely as they adjust to deep loss, end of life or make significant changes.

As an Independent NDIS Psychosocial Support Worker, Erin supports clients to live well by accessing the community, connecting with friends and family, attending social events, and participating in recreational activities.

Ten years’ experience across Federal and State Government funded mental health and health promotion program administration and system reform project management roles has nurtured Erin’s skills, empathy, understanding and desire to continue to walk alongside people living with severe and persistent mental health challenges.
